Facebook note: 15 Bands

“RULES; DON’T TAKE LONG TO THINK ABOUT IT. FIFTEEN BANDS YOU LIKE
THAT WILL ALWAYS STICK IN YOUR MIND.THE FIRST FIFTEEN YOU CAN RECALL IN NO MORE THAN FIFTEEN MINUTES.TAG TEN FRIENDS, INCLUDING ME BECAUSE I’M INTERESTED IN SEEING WHAT BANDS MY FRIENDS CHOOSE. (TO DO THIS, GO TO YOUR NOTES TAB ON YOUR PROFILE PAGE, PASTE THE RULES IN A NOTE,CAST YOUR FIFTEEN PICKS, AND TAG PEOPLE IN THE NOTE – UPPER RIGHT HAND SIDE.)”

Like Brian wrote: “Like Virginia, I am trying to play by the rules and limit myself to strictly bands, so certain solo acts have to fall by the wayside (sorry, Frank Sinatra, and so many other wonderful jazz and pop singers!). The time thing seems “important” (as important as FB notes get, anyway), since if I sat down at a different fifteen-minute period, I would come up with a slightly different list (although the top five would probably always be there). I am sure, as always with these lists, that I will curse my forgetfulness of some important band only seconds after posting this.”  I wouldn’t put Frank on there, but Bob Dylan or Neil Diamond or Jonathan Coulton receive the same apology from me.

(Oh, and for the people I’ve tagged– only play along if you feel like it. I’d love to see who you name, but I don’t want anyone to feel obligated).

A friend of mine at work introduced me to Flogging Molly and while they have not become what I would consider staples of my listening habits, I do enjoy them quite a bit!

I find this list interesting because I would be hard-pressed to do it. As a rule, I am less attracted to groups and more to solo artists. That having been said, I probably recognize better than half this list.

They played here on St. Pat’s day last year. It was excellent.
