Please don't tell me that you enjoyed Office Space. I thought that was one of the worst movies I'd ever seen!

For my response to frosty's question, I will quote myself, as published in the College of St. Benedict newspaper, The Saints on Feb 25 of 1999 from my review of Office Space. I did like the movie. If asked to put it in a "liked it" bin or a "didn't like it" bin, the movie definitely goes in the first one. I wrote:

"First, like all good comedy, it plays off truths in life. The office jokes hit home - anyone who has spent time in a cubicle will laugh at the forms and the staff meetings, the politics and the evil fax machine. The people in the film represent the broad range of people in an office. There are all types of characters, from the immigrant to the Michael Bolton hater named Michael Bolton, from the surfer-dude to the mumbling man who can only take so much.

"What really made Office Space worth seeing, though, was the wide range of styles used throughout the film. Kudos to Mike Judge for making the switch to live action in style. My favorite scene involved the recently laid off employees and a pilfered piece of office equipment. Using bizarre angles and hard-core rap music mixed with slow motion and hilarious imagery, the scene looked a lot like the Beastie Boys video for "Sabotage."

"Another clever joke in the film was the satire on the Chili's/TGIFriday's type restaurants. The peppy waiter who donned 37 pieces of "flair" was hilarious. We've all seen people at those restaurants who are just way too excited about their jobs - again, Judge hits home."

I laughed a lot at the movie. And while I will agree that it isn't much of a film, I did enjoy it quite a bit.

This has incensed me enough to write a response! This means WAR! (How was that for melodrama?)
