Frequently Asked Questions
- What is Random?
- Random is a web comic built by its readers. Using a Google search device, users generate the dialog for the comic by searching for phrases, terms, or whatever they choose.
- I never got a comic. The red circle just kept going.
- Make sure that you wait at least 60 seconds. If you have waited longer than that, you may have stumped the search tool. Click "back" and try again.
- How can Random run out of Google searches?
- As a registered Google developer, this project is only allowed 1000 Google searches each day. Each new comic takes between four and ten searches to complete. Once we've run out for the day, we can't make any more. For more detailed information, check the technical pages.
- What happens to the comics I save?
- They are stored and added to our archive. When the archive feature is up and running, you will be able to access yours and all the other comics readers have posted.
- I am offended by the comic that was generated.
- My comic did not make any sense.
- This program pulls its quotes from some of the top sites returned by the phrase the reader enters. In order to allow for the most interesting comics available, I only filter for lines likely to be code. I filter neither for decency nor for reason.
