Project 1: Home

Due: 5 October

For your first project in this course, you will create a web "home page" for yourself. This home page should explain a bit about you for the outside reader. However, instead of using straightforward lists to explain yourself, you should use short phrases or images that mark, for you, key parts of your identity (such as your discipline, your hobbies, your family, your city, or whatever). These short phrases should be hyperlinks to other pages that explain a bit more about that element of yourself.

The aesthetic model for this project is Chris Nolan's Memento. Think about how Leonard Shelby, the film's protagonist, uses tattoos to remind himself of key things in his life. Each tattoo is not a reminder of an event, but rather a lesson learned from that event. Envision your "home page" entries as a personal set of tattoos that lead the reader to anecdotes, ideas, stories, or images that convey the related part of your identity.

Your home page project should be at least 5 web pages long, should include both text and images, should properly cite any borrowed work, and should include links among the pages. The project should be posted by 5 October.
