This course is divided into two sections. The first six weeks focus on exploration and theory of new media. We will be reading, watching, and interacting with a variety of texts in order to understand the way writing changes when it becomes multi-modal. We will also learn techniques and strategies for hypertext authorship.
The second section of the course will focus on a sustained collaborative effort to create a large multimedia project. Our class will seek to create a psycho-geographic map of Columbia College. While the map's purpose, structure, and content will be hashed out in class, the general goal will be to provide a resource to aid students in navigating Columbia College, in as many senses of that phrase as possible.
