Response Papers:
Throughout the semester, you will write six response papers
focusing on different topics we'll cover in class. These response
papers are meant to help you focus your thinking about your own
culture and your relationship to it. With each paper, we will discuss
and brainstorm in class before it's due, then you will work on it at
home, and turn it in. Each response paper accounts for five percent
of your grade, and you must do all of them to pass the class.
Essays:
Essays are the larger, more complex projects you will compete
twice during the semester. As we work on these projects, we will
bring drafts to class and you will conference the papers with me.
Each essay counts for a significant portion of your grade, and you
must do both to pass the class.
Sharing Cultures Posts:
Much of the interaction we will have with the students at NMMU
will occur on the Sharing Cultures website discussion blogs. Each
week, you will be required to post and/or respond to posts on the
website. While you may post more than is required, there will be one
'assigned' writing to post each week.
