For your game journal, you should obtain and play (at least) one
of the following games. Each week, you should write an entry about
the game on your blog, as detailed in the 'game journal' section
of the coursework page. Watch the schedule for Game Journal focus assignments. If you finish
your game before week thirteen (when you would write your twelfth
game journal entry), you may re-play the game or select another game
from the selections offered.
Criteria
I've cast a wide net here, focusing on a couple attributes:
- Narrative: the game must have a story--no sim games or RTS games; ideally
the game would have an 'interesting' narrative, from a critical perspective.
- Innovation: While not all games on the list fit the 'innovative' criteria,
I tried to pick many games that broke ground in one way or another.
- Breadth: I tried to pick a wide variety of games, from a wide variety of
platforms and availability levels.
Please select a game you have not played before. Finally, if you have a
game you would like to play that's not on the list, feel free to suggest it.
