- Choose something from your bag or on your person that's manufactured or an otherwise commercial or cultural artifact. (Nothing too personal -- you're going to give it to someone else for this exercise). Try to choose something unusual or unique, something no one in class will likely have in their bag.
- Trade your object with a neighbor.
- Study the object you've been loaned. Write about it from the perspective of a cultural critic--what does this object tell you about its culture? What can we learn about the material, cultural, and commerical lives of the culture's participants from this object? You have fifteen minutes. Post it in the appropriate forum space when you finish.
