Project Description:
For your final project, the class will collaborate to expand, extend, and revise Project:LOOP. You will follow the work stages outlined below, using work time and the next few classes to expand the project along the lines discussed by the class.
You will elect a group manager, a secretary, and a technology guru.
The group will come up with a work plan (8 April), a rough draft (29 Apr), a final draft of the project (6 May), and a proof draft (13 May).
Stages:
- Proposals: each student must prepare a one or two paragraph proposal for changes or direction for the project to take. Your proposal may include visible gaps in the project, ideas for new content or kinds of content, or pretty much anything else within reason. Your proposal should be posted on the appropriate OASIS forum space before class.
- Workplan: The workplan is the blueprint for progress on the project. This will outline the goals for the class as well as a set of tasks to be done. Each student should, by the end of this day, have a good idea of the work s/he needs to accomplish on the project.
- Rough Draft: The rough draft should contain solid chunks of the work to be done. Most content should be at least started and should be available for editing by others. Images and other text should also be on hand.
- Final Draft: The final draft should finish off the blueprint outlined in the workplan. All major elements should be included and each student should have participated.
Individual Requirements
Each student must participate in the project in the following ways:
- Each student is responsible for creating, at a minimum, five nodes in the wiki. These nodes could be image archives (with multiple images) or they could be textual nodes to be connected to other elements. While there are no specific length requirements, the expectation is that these nodes will attain the rigor and interesting-ness associated with the rest of the course work.
- Each student must also participate in the editing and continuing work of producing the Wiki. This could include copy-editing, linking, adding images, adding content to other entries, categorizing, and so on.
- Each student must also create one "connections" page drawing together several of the nodes and reflecting on issues of city and culture.
- On the last day of class, each student Must turn in a work log. The work log should detail the pages the student created and the content the student worked on. While it doesn't need to include a blow-by-blow description of everything the student did, the more complete the log, the better Brendan will be able to assess the student's contribution.
- After the project begins, each student must present the work s/he has done on the wiki to the class. These presentations help the class keep track of the progress being made and understand how work is being conducted.
